Privacy Policy for Bus Nap
Last Updated: March 11, 2025
Effective Date: March 11, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Bus Nap. This Privacy Policy explains how Bus Nap (the “App”) and its developer, EmeraldSoft (the “we” or “us”), collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information. This policy is designed to comply with the privacy requirements of Google Play and the Apple App Store, as well as international data protection laws. By using Bus Nap, you agree to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the App's features. This includes:
- Location Data: With your permission, Bus Nap collects precise GPS location data from your device. This may include your real-time geographic location, speed, and movement patterns. Why we collect it: Location data is used to enable core features of the App – for example, detecting when you might be drowsy while driving and issuing alerts to keep you awake. When collected: Location is collected in the foreground while you use the app. If you enable drowsiness monitoring, the App may continue to access location in the background (when the app is not in active use) to ensure continuous alerts. (Bus Nap will explicitly ask for your consent to access location “Allow all the time” for this purpose.)
- Device and Usage Information: We automatically collect certain information about your device and how you use the App. This includes device model, operating system, unique device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID or iOS Identifier for Advertisers), IP address, App version, and usage statistics (such as screens viewed, features used, and crash logs). Why we collect it: This data helps us understand app performance, fix bugs, and improve user experience.
- Advertising Data: Bus Nap is a free app and displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Ad networks may collect data about your device or interactions with the App for advertising purposes. This can include your Advertising ID, coarse location (e.g. region, based on IP address), and information about ads you view or click. (See “Advertising and Analytics” below for details.)
- Contact Information (User Communications): We do not require account registration or collect your name or email just for using the App. However, if you choose to contact us for support or feedback, we may collect your name, email address, or other contact details you provide in that communication. Why we collect it: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
We do not collect any sensitive personal information other than what is described above. For example, Bus Nap does not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files on your device. Audio/Camera data: The App does not use your microphone or camera. (If in the future Bus Nap introduces an audio-based alert feature, we will update this policy and seek required permissions.)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To Provide and Improve the Service: Location data is used to deliver the App's primary functionality and device/usage data ensures proper performance and user interface optimization.
- Safety and Functionality: Monitoring driving-related metrics (like GPS-based speed) allows the App to trigger alarms or notifications to help keep you awake. Location data is used in real time and then discarded.
- Advertising (Monetization): We display ads to keep the App free, sharing necessary device information with our third-party ad partner, Google AdMob, to serve ads as per your consent.
- Analytics: Aggregated analytics (using tools like Firebase Analytics) help us understand user engagement and improve features. You can opt out by adjusting settings or contacting us.
- Customer Support: If you reach out to us, your provided information is used to address your questions and improve support efficiency.
We do not use your personal data for any purposes other than those described above without your consent.
4. How We Share Your Information
- Service Providers and Partners: We share certain information with third parties that support the App. Notably, we share data with Google AdMob (an advertising platform) to display in-app ads. Additionally, if we use cloud analytics or crash reporting services (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics), those providers will receive relevant data to perform their analysis on our behalf.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred to a new owner, with privacy commitments maintained.
- Your Consent: We only share your personal information with third parties if you give us explicit consent.
Importantly, we do NOT sell your personal information.
5. Advertising and Analytics
- Third-Party Advertising (AdMob): Bus Nap uses Google AdMob to serve advertisements. Google AdMob may collect and use certain data about your device and app usage when serving ads. Ads are set to comply with COPPA Compliance for child-directed treatment.
- Personalized Ads: In regions where applicable (e.g., the European Economic Area), we will ask for your consent before enabling personalized (interest-based) advertising. If you do not consent or are in a region that requires opt-in, non-personalized ads will be served.
- Apple iOS Tracking: For iOS users, the ATT framework is used to request permission to track. You may see a prompt such as “Allow Bus Nap to access your location?” or similar when using the app.
- AdMob Privacy: For more details on data collected by Google AdMob and how Google uses it, please refer to Google’s Advertising Privacy & Security documentation.
- Analytics: We may use analytics services (such as Google Firebase Analytics) to record anonymous usage data to help improve the App. You can opt out by adjusting settings or contacting us.
Your choices for ads include using system-level settings to limit targeted advertising.
6. User Consent and Permissions
- Location Permission: The first time the App needs to access your location, you will see a system dialog (on Android or iOS) requesting access. For full functionality (e.g., background monitoring), you may be asked to grant “Allow all the time” location access.
- Notifications: Push notifications or alerts are used solely for delivering app-related information, such as safety notices.
- Tracking Consent (iOS): iOS users are prompted for tracking permission via the ATT prompt for ad personalization purposes.
- Withdrawal of Consent: You can withdraw any granted permission by adjusting your device settings or contacting us.
By using Bus Nap, you consent to our collection and use of data as explained.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. Data transmitted via the App is encrypted (HTTPS), and sensitive information is handled securely. Please note that no transmission is 100% secure, so you should also maintain your device’s security.
8. Data Retention
- Location Data: Used momentarily for analysis and then discarded.
- Device and Usage Data: Retained in aggregate form for analysis, with crash logs kept for up to 24 months.
- Advertising Identifiers: Continuously used by Google AdMob; these can be reset from your device.
- Contact Communications: Retained for support records until deletion is requested.
9. Your Privacy Rights
You may have specific legal rights regarding your personal data, including:
- Access and Correction: Request a copy of or correction to your personal data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
- Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw your consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
- Objection and Restriction (GDPR): Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
- Data Portability (GDPR): Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA): Request details about the personal information we have collected and opt out of data sharing.
- Authorized Agent (CCPA): Designate an agent to make privacy requests on your behalf.
To exercise any of your rights, please contact us (see Section 11).
10. International Data Transfers
Bus Nap is developed by EmeraldSoft in Pakistan. If you use the App from regions with data protection laws (such as the EU), your data may be transferred to other countries (like the United States) under legal mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure an equivalent level of data protection.
11. Children’s Privacy
Bus Nap is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App. In the event we unintentionally collect data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.
Parents and guardians: If you become aware that your child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us immediately.
For minors over 13, parental or guardian permission is advised. COPPA Compliance: We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act by not serving interest-based ads to known users under 13.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our practices or legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notifications or other appropriate means. Continued use of Bus Nap after an update signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
